A Minor Revolution, Icebox, Big$hot, Mayo @ No. 9 Ale House
Hip Punk? Punk Hop? Ah screw it... Hip Hop/Punk TONIGHT at No. 9 Ale House in Malden is going to be an awesome show! You all know me by now. I usually shy away from the hip hop, rap and house music scenes (or really, anything that isn't Punk, Rock and Metal). This time it's different and not just because BBH favorites A Minor Revolution are playing. Well, maybe a little because of AMR haha!
Every once and a while, I step out of my genre comfort zone when an amazing group is laid out in front of me. A collaboration of three hip hop artists coming together to form Icebox, just happens to be one of those amazing groups. With eyenine and PT Burnem out of Dover, NH and Paulie Think up from CT; it is great to see artists from so many varied New England locations come together with such a genuinely awesome sound. If their collective U.S. tour and trip to SXSW 2012 isn't enough of a push for you, then just take a listen to their sounds and then get off your ass tonight to check them out at the Ale House. Not enough hip hop for you? Big$hot (Everett, MA) and Mayo will also be making an appearance at the gig tonight.
As mentioned before, BBH favorites (and the band holding the first song on the BBH Minisode #2 to be released soon) A Minor Revolution are also playing the No. 9 Ale House gig tonight. If you are into punk and haven't heard these guys yet, shame on you (check out their tunes at the AMR Bandcamp or Reverbnation pages); if you aren't into punk, these guys will definitely push you over the life-fail you are living in; lastly, if you are an AMR fan, then get out there and support the band who are easily one of the best punk bands to ever breed from New England.

Ducky Boys | Chasing the Ghost
I got my first taste of The Ducky Boys back at their release of "No Gettin' Out". Now, 15 years later, with their last release ("The War Back Home") being almost 6 years past, The Ducky Boys are back with their latest and most versatile record to date: "Chasing The Ghost"One of my favorite things about punk is the diversity of the genre. There are more subgenre's than I care to count that can come into play with a single punk band and The Ducky Boys are one of the most versatile and diverse punk-centric bands around. Performing with well known bands of the genre such as Dropkick Murphys, Rancid, Anti-Flag, and The Mighty Mighty Bosstones, The Ducky Boys have made their name through relentless pavement pounding and the art of creating genuinely amazing music.
"Chasing The Ghost" is one of the finest releases to date by these long time Boston favorites. With a swagger that only comes along with 15+ years experience in the punk game, "Chasing The Ghost" is like the "Man-Bear-Pig" of the genre. Half street-punk, half New England celtic-style grit and half alternative- punk, this album is going to bring The Ducky Boys back from their 6 year album-making-hiatus with a *BANG*!
When I listen to this album, I hear so many influence from punk & rockabilly to rock n' roll, alternative and beyond. "Chasing The Ghost" encompasses everything that we know and love about New England punk and is sure to be a favorite album on the playlist of many for years to come.

A Weekend with The Ducky Boys
That's right! You read it correctly. Your eyes aren't playing tricks on you. This weekend is all about The Ducky Boys! These guys have been on my punk radar since 1997 with their album "No Gettin' Out". Now, 15 years later (and 6 years after their last release), The Ducky Boys are back with a savage weekend of album release shows for all you New England Punk Fans!
The "Chasing The Ghost" album release mini-tour will be taking you from Dover, New Hampshire to Allston in a three day stretch of punk that will leave you amped up, hung over and begging for more once the weekend is out.

| Tijuana Sweetheart |
Following up the Brickhouse gig, The Ducky Boys will be hitting up everyones favorite Allston venue Great Scott for two nights of pure unadulterated punk madness!
Saturday's lineup (18th) not only brings you "Chasing The Ghost", but also the latest release from Tijuana Sweetheart, an intense band of talented rockers out of Allston. Tijuana Sweetheart play awesome sets and have an intense stage presence.
Since seeing them at the Hard Rock (Dec. '10), followed up by a sick performance at the Rock N' Roll Rumble (Apr '11), Tijuana Sweetheart have become one of my personal favorites around the Boston Punk scene.
Want more? Saturday will also be giving us another night of Hudson Falcons along with Energy hailing from Stoughton, MA.
Sunday the 19th, The Ducky Boys return to Great Scott with Pinkerton Thugs, Refuse Resist and one of the latest bands to hit the scene Tenebrae. Both supporting acts are well known in the Boston Punk and Hardcore scenes and are guaranteed to blow you away. If you haven't heard Tenebrae yet, the fact that they are relatively new to the scene and already opening up for Rancid at the House of Blues in May should be testament enough to their awesomeness.
So get on your skinny jeans, zip up your drunk pants, strap on the suspenders, slick up the mohawks and slap on the steel toes, this punk/hardcore weekend is going to be epic and one to be talked about for some time to come. I'll be there... will you?

Suzuki Smith | ENDS
Eating, breathing, (and drinking) punk rock, Suzuki Smith has pounded the pavement of our venue filled town for the past 8+ years playing some amazing shows at incredible venues and releasing 3 great punk albums. Fast forward to August 2011 and you will find Jay "SMASH" Dodd and his entourage of punk (seriously...it's an entourage: Cliff VanEtten (drums & original member), John Voulgaris (guitar, backing vocals & original member), James "Big Bergie" Bergdorf (guitar, backing vocals), Neil Lawrence (mandolin), Francis Quinn (drums), Joe Mageary (guitar), Ian "IMAC" MacIntosh (Guitar, Keys) Bill Renault (guitar, backing vocals), Annie Libertini (tin whistle)) dropping the bands latest release "Ends".
Hey! All you BBH Readers and Listeners! Brought to you by Suzuki Smith and Boston Bloghead, we have 25 FREE Downloads of "Ends" available at the Boston Bloghead Bandcamp page! Get em' while you can! They are bound to go fast!
“Ends” is the next step of evolution as Suzuki Smith's first release since 2006. This album comes together with some of the best tracks I've heard from the band thus far and makes it to the top of the list on my down and dirty garage-punk playlist. These guys always put out great tunes and each and every song on "Ends" bears that some of that "blue collar", "comedic", and "hometown" punk styles we love to hear in Beantown. Whether you are a Suzuki Smith veteran or a silly punk n00b finally ready to get his "man card", "Ends" is an album that the punks, rockers, metal-heads and alties alike are going to want to get their hands on.

Punk @ Rosebud Follow-up
Friday night at the Rosebud was as intense as Michael Bay films are laced with gratuitous action.
Yesterday's Heroes set the night off and got my drinkin' pants belted on tight. They played a solid set and really got the crowd moving.
The Trash Killers hit the stage and brought the harder side of punk into the fold. After only owning one tune and hearing double that prior to the show, I was psyched to get a through tast of the amazingly ridiculous lyrics based tunes.
As far as I'm concerned, A Minor Revolution put on their best set to date. I've been to a lot of their shows and after a chat with AJ (Bass) and Ryan (Guitar/Vocs), it was pretty clear to me that my feelings were shared by band and fans alike.
Oh, but there was more! Remember from our post the other day, More Beer Please had to unfortunately drop off the bill? Well, Shit Brown Eyes picked up the slot last minute and ended up closing out this awesome night with a bang! This three-piece has some crazy talent behind them with members coming from past locals you may have heard of including Little Motel (MA) and Best Man (NH). Regardless of where they were back in the day, recently formed Shit Brown Eyes put on an awesome set and are definitely some local players to have your ears out for.

Friday Night Punks @ The Rosebud
Tonight, live at Rosebud Bar in Davis Sq. and presented by UNregular Radio, we are going to get a taste of some awesome New England punk bands!
UNregular Radio brings A Minor Revolution, one of this area's fast growing favorites to the stage, including supporting acts such as hardcore punkers More Beer Please, thrashers The Trash Killers and area garage punks Yesterday's Heroes. Knowing these bands and how UNregular rolls, this gig is set to be one of the top punk shows to start out the year of the apocalypse.
A Minor Revolution hails from Dover, New Hampshire to bring you a mixture of songs that leave you feeling like you've just seen the NOFX and Rancid of old. These guys bring a classic hardcore punk sound with a set of lyrics to match that will have you singing along and tipping your beers to them all night... that is, if you haven't spilled it rocking out already. Want more? Check out the this album review of their latest release "AMRica"
Ever go to a punk show at a small venue and a bunch of drunkards are moshing like there is no one else in the room? Elbows flying, legs kicking and utter chaos ensuing is the name of the game and More Beer Please are the reigning champs. MBP is up 3rd, so make sure you get your drunk goggles on early and join in the destruction!
*UPDATE* - MBP unfortunately had to drop from the bill due to unforeseen circumstances (making my last paragraph a bit anticlimactic)
I'm going to be honest, until this show came on my radar, I had not heard of The Trash Killers. This is something that perplexes me as after giving them one listen. The fact that I haven't been all over this bands tunes is ludicrous. The Trash Killers are a fast tempo thrash punk band with a touch of hard rock flowing through their veins. Up second, The Trash Killers are not a band to miss.
Yesterday's Heroes have been leaving their mark in the Boston punk scene spilling out their own breed of blue collar punk at more shows with more local bands than I can count. Influenced by bands like Street Dogs, The Bouncing Souls and The Clash, Yesterday's Heroes are known for their catchy satirical & blue collar lyrics, fast paced punk and intense energy. These guys always bring that same intensity with them that leaves you imprinted with punk in your brain and have you back and begging for more.
So get off your asses, quit bitching about being broke and come down to Rosebud Bar tonight to catch this great mix of New Englands finest. That's right... I'm talking to all you Facebook "maybes" and "no answers" on the event page. This is definitely not a show to miss and for $7.00, cheap priced bar food and drinks, you really can't go wrong! Still not sold? You can hear all of these bands at their Bandcamp pages (listed below). On top of that, stay tuned for the first of a special edition set of "minisodes" of the BBH Blogcast featuring all these bands in the weeks to come.
