BBH Minisode #2 (Of Punk Proportions)
BBH Minisode #2 (Of Punk Proportions) - 02.23.2012
Featuring: A Minor Revolution, Buried In Leather, Ashers, The Ducky Boys, Opposition Rising, Razors in the Night, More Beer Please, Smoke or Fire, The Swaggerin' Growlers, Burning Streets, Suzuki Smith, The Snipes and two tunes from two of my favorite punk bands that just happened to be on my drive-to-work playlist this morning: NOFX and Strung Out
A Minor Revolution, Icebox, Big$hot, Mayo @ No. 9 Ale House
Hip Punk? Punk Hop? Ah screw it... Hip Hop/Punk TONIGHT at No. 9 Ale House in Malden is going to be an awesome show! You all know me by now. I usually shy away from the hip hop, rap and house music scenes (or really, anything that isn't Punk, Rock and Metal). This time it's different and not just because BBH favorites A Minor Revolution are playing. Well, maybe a little because of AMR haha!
Every once and a while, I step out of my genre comfort zone when an amazing group is laid out in front of me. A collaboration of three hip hop artists coming together to form Icebox, just happens to be one of those amazing groups. With eyenine and PT Burnem out of Dover, NH and Paulie Think up from CT; it is great to see artists from so many varied New England locations come together with such a genuinely awesome sound. If their collective U.S. tour and trip to SXSW 2012 isn't enough of a push for you, then just take a listen to their sounds and then get off your ass tonight to check them out at the Ale House. Not enough hip hop for you? Big$hot (Everett, MA) and Mayo will also be making an appearance at the gig tonight.
As mentioned before, BBH favorites (and the band holding the first song on the BBH Minisode #2 to be released soon) A Minor Revolution are also playing the No. 9 Ale House gig tonight. If you are into punk and haven't heard these guys yet, shame on you (check out their tunes at the AMR Bandcamp or Reverbnation pages); if you aren't into punk, these guys will definitely push you over the life-fail you are living in; lastly, if you are an AMR fan, then get out there and support the band who are easily one of the best punk bands to ever breed from New England.

Ducky Boys | Chasing the Ghost
I got my first taste of The Ducky Boys back at their release of "No Gettin' Out". Now, 15 years later, with their last release ("The War Back Home") being almost 6 years past, The Ducky Boys are back with their latest and most versatile record to date: "Chasing The Ghost"One of my favorite things about punk is the diversity of the genre. There are more subgenre's than I care to count that can come into play with a single punk band and The Ducky Boys are one of the most versatile and diverse punk-centric bands around. Performing with well known bands of the genre such as Dropkick Murphys, Rancid, Anti-Flag, and The Mighty Mighty Bosstones, The Ducky Boys have made their name through relentless pavement pounding and the art of creating genuinely amazing music.
"Chasing The Ghost" is one of the finest releases to date by these long time Boston favorites. With a swagger that only comes along with 15+ years experience in the punk game, "Chasing The Ghost" is like the "Man-Bear-Pig" of the genre. Half street-punk, half New England celtic-style grit and half alternative- punk, this album is going to bring The Ducky Boys back from their 6 year album-making-hiatus with a *BANG*!
When I listen to this album, I hear so many influence from punk & rockabilly to rock n' roll, alternative and beyond. "Chasing The Ghost" encompasses everything that we know and love about New England punk and is sure to be a favorite album on the playlist of many for years to come.

A Weekend with The Ducky Boys
That's right! You read it correctly. Your eyes aren't playing tricks on you. This weekend is all about The Ducky Boys! These guys have been on my punk radar since 1997 with their album "No Gettin' Out". Now, 15 years later (and 6 years after their last release), The Ducky Boys are back with a savage weekend of album release shows for all you New England Punk Fans!
The "Chasing The Ghost" album release mini-tour will be taking you from Dover, New Hampshire to Allston in a three day stretch of punk that will leave you amped up, hung over and begging for more once the weekend is out.

| Tijuana Sweetheart |
Following up the Brickhouse gig, The Ducky Boys will be hitting up everyones favorite Allston venue Great Scott for two nights of pure unadulterated punk madness!
Saturday's lineup (18th) not only brings you "Chasing The Ghost", but also the latest release from Tijuana Sweetheart, an intense band of talented rockers out of Allston. Tijuana Sweetheart play awesome sets and have an intense stage presence.
Since seeing them at the Hard Rock (Dec. '10), followed up by a sick performance at the Rock N' Roll Rumble (Apr '11), Tijuana Sweetheart have become one of my personal favorites around the Boston Punk scene.
Want more? Saturday will also be giving us another night of Hudson Falcons along with Energy hailing from Stoughton, MA.
Sunday the 19th, The Ducky Boys return to Great Scott with Pinkerton Thugs, Refuse Resist and one of the latest bands to hit the scene Tenebrae. Both supporting acts are well known in the Boston Punk and Hardcore scenes and are guaranteed to blow you away. If you haven't heard Tenebrae yet, the fact that they are relatively new to the scene and already opening up for Rancid at the House of Blues in May should be testament enough to their awesomeness.
So get on your skinny jeans, zip up your drunk pants, strap on the suspenders, slick up the mohawks and slap on the steel toes, this punk/hardcore weekend is going to be epic and one to be talked about for some time to come. I'll be there... will you?
